Washington Place
Honolulu, Hawai`i

On Thursday, November 11th (Veteran's Day), I was invited to Washington Place, the official residence of the Governor of the State of Hawai`i (originally built for Queen Lili`uokalani), to attend the 19th annual Honolulu International Film Festival Gala Reception, and took along the D-600L again.

It didn't fair quite so well in low-light conditions due to the auto-focus not being as precise, and I was trying to save the flash (mistake, as I had extra batteries). Did I mention that digital cameras eat batteries like the Cookie Monster eats cookies? They do. Buy rechargeable alkalines (available at Radio Shack) is my advice.

All the pictures in this set except the last four are at 1280 x 1024 resolution, and are about 200 KB in size, so they could take a while to download. The last four are 640 x 512, and should only take about 10 seconds on a 28.8 connection.

Anyway, these are the results:

Foyer

The Main Floor

  • The Blue Room
  • The Party Room, beyond the Piano room.
  • The Dining Room, with a portrait of the Queen at Center. There is a portrait of King David Kala~kaua on the right wall as well (not visible). This is the only Air Conditioned room in the lower floor.
